These knives are dual action front opening automatic knives switchblades.

Dual action front opening - OTF (out-the-front) automatic switchblade:= A pocketknife having a spring-operated blade that comes straight out the front of the handle (as opposed to swinging open from the side), that opens instantly when a release on the handle is pressed. The same release on the handle (that releases the blade) will also retract the blade automatically as well, as opposed to the manual recharging (cocking) of the blade to the closed position - which must be done on the regular (single action) front openers.
